The bank has a tested and proven five member Management Team involved in the day-to-day management of the Bank, they include the following:
Kanu Okoronkwo Ijeomanta - Managing Director
Mr. Kanu has over eighteen years banking experience with a strong background in Credit and Marketing, Branch Management and Relationship Management. He started his banking career with Savannah Bank Plc. as a Management Trainee. From 1991 - 1996, he joined Commerce Bank Ltd. and served as Officer (Operations), Assistant Manager (Credit and Marketing), and later Deputy Manager (Inspection and Control). He moved to Manny Bank Plc. in 2000 and later in 2007 he joined First City Monument Bank Plc. where he left for private practice.
Mr. Kanu is a minister of God with the Redeemed Christian Church of God. A member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and a Justice of Peace. He is an Alumnus of Imo State University, Owerri where he bagged a B.Sc (Hons) in Management and MBA in Banking and Finance.
Ndubuisi Emmanuel Agba Ogwo - Manager/Head (Credit & Marketing)
Mr. Ogwo has over twelve years banking experience with a good background in Administration, Human Resources, Relationship Management, Credit and Marketing. He started his banking career with the defunct Hallmark Bank Plc.
Mr. Ogwo has also worked with Abia State University, Uturu between 1987 - 1992, from where he joined Hallmark Bank Plc. While in Abia State University, he was Secretary, Non-Academic Staff Union, Abia State University Branch. He is an Alumnus of Abia State University, Uturu where he obtained a B.Sc (Hons) in Government & Public Administration. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics. Before joining Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited, he worked briefly with Swift Microfinance Bank Ltd., Aba from 2008 - 2009.
Igwe Boniface Eke - Ag. Head of Operations
Mr. Igwe is a graduate of Economics with second class honours from the Abia State University, Uturu. He started his banking career with Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited as a Marketing Officer from 2010 to December 2012 when he was appointed the Acting Head of Operations. Before joining Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited, he worked with various Microfinance Institutions in Aba.
Ogbonnaya Samuel Eze - Head, Risk Management/Loan Recovery
Mr. Ogbonnaya is a 2006 graduate of Microbiology with a B.Sc second class honours, Upper Division. He is a target driven banker who has also worked as Head of Operations with the Bank. Prior to joining Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited he was a Mathematics teacher in D-NALS Secondary School, Aba. in 2007, he acquired training on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises after his National Youth Service.
Mr. Ogbonnaya is a trained Computer Analyst and has worked as a Computer Engineer with Abia State GSM and Components Association, Aba. He is an Alumnus os Abia State Universiyu, Uturu.
Chesa Nkemakolam Uko - Head, Internal Control
Mr. Chesa is a 2006 graduate of Public Administration with a B.Sc second class honours from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He started his banking career with Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited as a Marketing Officer from 2009 - 2011, when he was appointed the Internal Control Officer; a job he has performed creditably till date. Before joining Merchants Microfinance Bank Limited, he worked with various Microfinance Institutions. He also worked with some NGOs before joining the Bank. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. Mr. Chesa has interest in writting and has two unpublished books in his kitty.
