The Board of Directors

The bank has a tested and proven seven member Board of Directors, who formulates policies and supervises the Management Team, they include the following:

Dr. (Chief) Emmanuel A. Ukpabi - Chairman
Dr. Ukpabi is the Chairman of the Board, and the Group Managing Director of Nigeria Flour Mills Plc. and the Chairman of 13 other private sector companies. He is a 1971 Chemistry graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka and has been in the employment of Nigeria Flour Mills Plc. since 1972 till date. He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School and a Knight of John Wesley among others.

Dr. Ukpabi is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Marketing, Nigerian Quality Assurance Institute and a member of Governing Council of Wesley University of Science & Technology. He has alsobeen awarded with various Chieftaincy titles.

Prof. Joe O. Irukwu (SAN, OON) - Director
Prof. Irukwu is a solicitor, a risk management expert, an insurance practitioner of international repute and Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He was the Managing Director of Unity Life Insurace Co. Ltd. and that of Nigerian Re-Insurance Corporation from 1976 to 1989. He was the Chairman of African Development Insurance Corporation from 1992 till 2006.

Prof. Irukwu is on the Board of several Blue Chip Companies, which include, Guiness Nigeria Plc., EKO Hospital and CitiBank etc. He has variously been awarded with several Doctorate Degrees, National Honour of OON, Chieftaincy titles etc. He is a former President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.

Bishop Sunday N. Onuoha - Director
Bishop Onuoha is the Bishop of Evangelism and Discipleship, Methodist Church Nigeria and the President Vision Africa International, Texas, USA and Vision Africa Radio, Umuahia, Nigeria. He was a Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Privatisation issues.

Bishop Onuoha has a Bachelor's, a Master's and Doctorate degrees in Divinity from Perkins School of Theology and Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas, USA. He also has a Diploma in Theology from Emmanuel College of Theology Ibadan and another in Religious Studies from University of Ibadan. He is also the President General of Item Development Association Worldwide.

His Highness Eze Agbaeze Agbaeze - Director
His Highness, Eze Agbaeze, is the traditional ruler of one of the 27 Autonomous Communities in Item Homeland known as Akpanagbo Item. He is also the Chairman of Item Traditional Royal Council.

He was a banker with the First Bank for over 30 years before he voluntarily retired in 1998. Eze Agbaeze became a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Corporate Administration in 1997.

Prof. Herbert O. Orji - Director
Prof. Herbert Orji is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Summa Guaranty & Trust Company Plc., a blue chip member firm of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He is an investment banker, chartered stockbrocker and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK & Nigeria). Educated at Howard, Michigan, Union and Harvard Universities, he started his professional career with Riggs National Bank, Washington DC as a computer system programmer in 1973.

From 1975 - 1979, he served as a Management Trainee, Manager (commercial accounts) and Assistant Treasurer to become a second Vice President of American Express Bank, New York. For five years, he worked at a general management levels in commercial and corporate banking with the UBA Plc. in Lagos and later as the pioneer representative and General Manager of UBA Plc., London with responsibilities for the UK and Western Europe. In 1985, he was appointed the Managing Director/CEO of Progress Bank of Nigeria and served meritoriously until his voluntary disengagement in 1991.

Prof. Orji has published two best selling books and over 50 articles on the leading edge of banking, finance, investments and development. He is the Chairman of the Board of Business in Africa Group Ltd. South Africa and current President and Chairman of Council, African Banking and Finance Association (ABFA). He is the Chairman of the Research and Development Committee of the African Business Roundtable (ABR), the Pan-African organisation that heads the NEPAD Business Group. He has been awarded with several chieftaincy titles among which is "Ocheaku Item".

High Chief Rex U. Iko - Director
High Chief Rex Uchenna Iko is a vast international business mogul with interest in Oil and Gas, Hospitality, Textiles etc. He is a member of the famous IBB Golf Club Abuja. His foundation "Rex Iko Foundation" has given hope to many less priviledged people.

His University education pursuit saw him studying in the United States of America where he sojourned for more than thirty years. High Chief Iko is an Elder of the Methodist Church of Nigeria. He has been honoured with many chieftaincy titles, among which is "Onasa Egbe Item".

Chief Joseph Chukwu Ogwo - Director
Chief Joseph C. Ogwo is a business man of international repute, a philantropist par-excellence. His interest in corporate world has seen him serve as Director in many companies including Coral Insurance Ltd. He is the Chairman/CEO of Joelee International Ltd.

Chief Ogwo was a Special Adviser on Economic Matters to the former Governor and a Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources with the present Abia State Governor. Presently he is the Chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P) in Abia State. His philanthropy earned him the cheiftaincy title of "Ugwumba Item".
